SEA U is a certified diving center in Greece, on the island of Folegandros. Our facilities are situated in Chora, well known for its Cycladic character with narrow streets and white-washed houses and the famous castle, an integral part of the island’s beauty.
Our diving school aims to create a connection between man and sea. Our goal is to familiarize the visitors with diving in Greece.
Even if you have never put a diving mask on before, join us in SEA U in exploring the wonderful underwater world and the beautiful, crystal blue seas of Folegandros through autonomous and free diving or snorkeling.
Capture great images of the Aegean seabed and swim in the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea. If you happen to be a certified diver, you have the opportunity to combine vacations with diving since we offer the best dive every day in some of the most beautiful places of the island. You may also enjoy a private tour by one of our boats and see all the wonderful beaches and bays of Folegandros.
The island’s position at the south end of the Cyclades and in the center of South Aegean, surrounded by Milos, Kimolos, Polyaigos, Sifnos, Antiparos, Paros, Sikinos, Ios and Santorini makes it an ideal destination for a relaxing escape and recreation.
Folegandros Island
Folegandros is one of the most untouched small islands of the Cyclades. The narrow streets and the successive squares of Chora create a unique theatrical setting. The hospitality of the people combined with the traditional recipes and local products will make your stay here special. Folegandros is the ideal destination for summer vacations and diving in Greece since it provides a serene environment of unique natural beauty for a limited number of visitors.
Brief History
According to Greek mythology, Folegandros’ first inhabitants were shepherds from West Greece. Historically, the first inhabitants of the island were the Carians from Asia Minor. Followed by the Minoans under the leadership of Folegandros, son of Minoas king of Crete, after whom the island was named. In 1204 the island was conquered by the Venetians. The noble man Markos Sanudos built the famous castle of Folegandros to protect the inhabitants from the pirates. Finally, Folegandros was under Turkish domination until 1828, time at which it was freed and attached to Greece. During the 20th century it was a place of exile for political prisoners.
